Is it April 1st already?!?

So my first thought when I saw Let's get Hurricanes Right First: FEMA Firefighters Manual Covers UFO Attacks, Crashes over at TOTWTYTR was that somebody, somewhere, is pranking us.  But apparently it's legit.  If you follow his link to YouTube in the header, it turns out that one of the ABC affiliates actually did a story about it.  Gizmodo.com has a link, too.

Gee, I feel safer just knowing that if we're invaded from space, FEMA's ready to handle it.  *snort*

Gotta hand it to our nation's firefighters, tho'; they do tend to be prepared for damn near anything.  If they can't keep FEMA from screwing up a First Contact situation, nobody can.

Update:  According to a comment left on TOTWTYTR's blog, it wasn't FEMA who put of the "Firefighter's Manual" in question, it was Fire Engineering Magazine.  Somehow DeFrance is tied up with it; do they publish that mag?  I guess the fact that most of us decided FEMA's a joke after the screw-up job they did on Katrina, made us a little more gullible than we would normally have been....
